Original video: https://youtu.be/ZozxkraqoTc Explore the hidden world of root development with this stunning 10-day time-lapse of Arabidopsis lateral root (LR) growth! While it's known that lateral roots emerge behind the root tip, this video unveils a newly observed temporal pattern of LR development, captured over 10 days.
Observe how the primary root grows with accelerating speed in the first 5 days, followed by a constant growth rate. See the continuous populating of the growing root with lateral root primordia (LRPs) and lateral roots (LRs) between days 5-10. Interestingly, under these conditions, nearly all LRPs (98±2%) successfully develop into emerged LRs, contradicting some earlier reports of significant arrested LRPs. This time-lapse provides a unique visual insight into the temporal and spatial dynamics of Arabidopsis lateral root development under standard experimental conditions.
